The Federation of Indian Publishers (FIP) has unanimously elected new office bearers for the year 2016-2017. NK Mehra is the new president while Dinesh Goyal, Debajyoti Datta, NE Manohar and Shantilal L Furia are the vice presidents for North, East, South, and West, respectively. Naveen Gupta is the honorary general secretary, Monica Malhotra Kandhari is the honorary joint secretary while Dr. Ashok Gupta is the honorary treasurer.

NK Mehra is a seasoned publishing professional, who established the Narosa Group of Companies to publish and distribute scientific, technical and medical books with his wife Rosemarie Mehra as a co-director. He has been a member of the executive committee of the Federation of Publishers and Booksellers in India and its president for two terms. He is also a member of the Publishers and Booksellers Guild Kolkata.

Naveen Gupta is the managing partner of Arya Publishing Company, a group which has been in the publishing industry for the last seventy five years now. In the year 2000, seeing his contribution to publishing, he was conferred with the Young Publishers Award by The Federation of Indian Publishers.

Monica Malhotra Kandhariis the sr. director of MBD Group. She started working at the young age of 16 and today she manages the entire gamut of businesses of MBD Group of companies (publishing, printing, e-learning, skill development, teacher training and project construction and design).

The 3rd Kalinga Literary Festival was successfully held from June 18-19, 2016 at the Crystal Hall, MayFair, Bhubaneswar. The festival was inaugurated by chief guest Hon’ble Industry and Mass Education Minister of Odisha, Debi Prasad Mishra; Priyadarshi Mishra, MLA Bhubaneswar; leading poet & thinker Haraprasad Das, political leader Mani Shankar Aiyar and the key note speaker Dr. Subramanian Swamy. The festival attracted the famous litterateurs around the country.

India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO) in collaboration with The Federation of Indian Publishers (FIP) is organising Delhi Book Fair 2016 from August 27–September 04 at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi. Union Minister for Science & Technology and Minister of Science Dr Harsh Vardhan will inaugurate the fair, which will also host two concurrent shows—18th edition of Stationery and 2nd Office Automation & Corporate Gift Fair. It has been estimated that more than 250 participants will take part in the three expos.

The fair aims to highlight some initiatives on higher education and computer literacy under the government’s flagship integrated programme ‘Sarv Shiksha Abhiyan’. Theme Pavilion at the expo will have Selfie Stations that focus on the Government of India’s national campaigns, such as Make in India, Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, Digital India, Skill India, Startup India, Smart Cities, Standup India and Umang (Unified Mobile App for New Age Governance). In addition to showcasing of books of varied genres, Delhi Book Fair 2016 will host Book Reading Sessions, Live Music Performances, Films, Storytelling Sessions, Quiz, Nukkad Natak and others, to make the fair more interactive with visitors. For the convenience of visitors, ITPO will introduce mobile applications. The fair will be opened from 10 am to 8 pm.
