The 16th Pune Book Fair will be held from October 11-15, 2017 at GaneshKala Manch, Nehru Stadium, Pune, the educational and cultural capital of Maharashtra.

Ahmedabad-based Nanoland Publishers has released Hindi and Gujarati versions of their acclaimed book Mahatama Gandhi to Modi. This book talks about two great leaders of India as their work is exemplary. This book highlights the ideological similarities between Mahatma Gandhi and Narendra Modi for overall development of society, elimination of poverty and Nationalism.

Shivangi Ramachandran’s thesis entitled “Book Discoverability in the Age of eRetail” for her Master in Arts (MA) in publishing and communication submitted to the Emerson College, Boston has been awarded first prize with a cash prize of US$ 600.00.

This thesis was dedicated to KPR Nair of Konark Publishers.

The Human Resource Development (HRD) ministry has directed the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) to stop publishing textbooks as it is not part of its mandate. The board publishes about 300 school textbooks that most affiliated schools subscribe to.

Independent Book Publishers Association (IBPA) has announced gold medalists in 54 categories in the 2016 Benjamin Franklin Book Awards. Honoring excellence in independent publishing for 28 years, IBPA’s Benjamin Franklin Book awards represent one of the highest national honors in independent publishing.

“Winning a Benjamin Franklin Book Award expands your marketability and solidifies your credibility,” said Angela Bole, IBPA’s Chief Executive Officer. “Considering how crowded the book market is today, these are two very powerful things.” Nearly 1,400 entries from across the publishing industry were submitted to the 2016 awards program for consideration, each featuring its own unique voice and perspective.
