PublisHer’s Sustained Engagement in Brazil Catalyses Connections
At the 28th Bienal Internacional do Livro de São Paulo, PublisHer concluded a bustling programme which has empowered women to connect, find support and boost their visibility across the Brazilian and international book publishing industry. For PublisHer, this was the fifth in-person event in Brazil.
During 24 individual Meet a Mentor sessions – PublisHer’s largest one-day mentorship programme to date – participants discussed career development, editorial practice, sales, marketing, rights, digital publishing, leadership and other industry realities.
Additionally, PublisHer staged three panels exploring the future of the industry and issues women in publishing face today, titled: When Books Gain a Voice on the Global Agenda; Who Drives the Publishing Industry? The Economic Power of Women in the Book Ecosystem; and From Idea to Impact: Turning Great Ideas into Meaningful Change in Publishing.
Karine Pansa, former President of the International Publishers Association and member of the PublisHer Advisory Board, along with publishing industry journalist Talita Facchini, were instrumental in delivering a programme that has cemented PublisHer’s foothold in the Brazilian publishing community.
PublisHer Founder Bodour Al Qasimi, said, “What we’re seeing in Brazil is a committed publishing community that’s happy to share knowledge, create opportunities and help one another. PublisHer’s role is to connect that exemplary spirit to the wider global community, so that introductions become tangible collaborations, conversations open doors, and women can build networks that long outlive our events.”
