Eklavya Foundation Releases Wordless Book Jungle Dhun
French illustrator Juliette Armagnac was born with a pencil in her hand! During her Villa Swagatam residency at Eklavya Foundation, Bhopal in 2025-26, Juliette created Jungle Dhun, a picturesque journey through the forest. A young protagonist, woken up by a loud call in the middle of a jungle at night, sets out in search of the source of the unfamiliar call discovering the rhythms and wonders of nocturnal life along the way. The Villa Swagatam residencies, supported by the Institute of France in India are designed to foster cultural exchange. Juliette immersed herself in the local landscapes of Madhya Pradesh. She captured wildlife and everyday observations in her sketch book. Through her drawings, Juliette wants to draw attention to vanishing dark skies, the rapid loss of natural nighttime darkness due to increasing light pollution threatening ecosystems. She also wants to draw attention to some of the animals on the threatened/ endangered list. As the story took shape, Jungle Dhun emerged as a memorable journey told without a single word!
